Did you know that our relationships have a bigger impact on happiness than money and success? Research shows that close and good relationships are the strongest factor for a long and happy life.
Did you know that people quickly get used to material things, but that experiences continue to bring joy for a long time? A trip, a concert, or a dinner with friends contributes more to our long-term happiness than buying something new.
Did you know that gratitude is one of the keys to happiness? Studies show that regularly reflecting on what we are grateful for strengthens our well-being, reduces stress, and increases our sense of meaning.

About Positive Psychology
Positive psychology, as it is properly called, is a relatively modern field within psychology that systematically studies the factors and processes that help individuals, groups, and societies to develop, feel good, and achieve greater life satisfaction.
Instead of focusing, like “classical psychology”, on problems such as depression and anxiety, positive psychology turns its attention to what makes life worth living. It examines things like optimism, gratitude, and meaningfulness.
The goal is to help individuals, groups, and societies to flourish and develop in the best possible way. It’s also about creating strategies for greater joy and satisfaction in everyday life. Positive psychology can be used to improve quality of life and is an inspiring field that aims to make the world a little bit better.

Positive Energy
Here are a few things that personally give me positive energy, even if they’re not directly related to positive psychology:
- Lithuania’s Eurovision 2021 entry: Fantastic performance and wonderful dancers (especially at 2:59 in the video): The Roop - Discoteque (LIVE) | Lithuania 🇱🇹 | Grand Final | Eurovision 2021
- If you need a boost, play Lasse Holm’s Eurovision 1986 hit *Canelloni Macaroni* on full volume in the car and sing along – a chance to practice your Italian (maybe!): Canelloni Macaroni
- The movie Yes Man, especially the scene where Jim Carrey takes notes from a bulletin board and how it changes his future. Say “Yes!” to things.
- The movie Shrek (no. 1) – or, as someone wise said, “The best animated movie ever made.”
- Three thought-provoking quotes:
1. "When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the question. I told them they didn't understand life." / John Lennon
2. "The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; The wise grows it under his feet.” / James Oppenheim
3. Charlie: "We only live once, Snoopy." "Wrong! We only die once. We live every day!" / Snobben
